Dr A Nazal, Consultant specialized in Anesthesiology and Chronic Pain Medicine, graduated from Mosul University School of Medicine. He later moved to the United Kingdom where he worked in different hospitals. Dr A Nazal trained at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Birmingham (QEUHB), where he was granted CCT in Anesthesiology and further specialized in Chronic Pain Medicine. During his residency, he was able to provide superior care to his patients both in anesthesia and to chronic pain patients. Afterwards, he completed his training in anesthesia and specialized training in chronic pain medicine. Dr A Nazal joined the consultants’ faculty of both Anesthesia and at the Chronic Pain Departments in the QEUHB.  

Dr Nazal has been practicing anesthesia and chronic pain medicine as a Consultant in the Department of Anesthesiology and Chronic Pain Medicine at the QEUHB, since 2008, one of the top university hospitals in the UK. His practice focused on Interventional Pain Medicine and was one of the leaders in education and quality improvement in Chronic Pain Medicine and a clinical lead in Ophthalmic Anesthesia.

During his career, Dr Nazal, as part of his commitment to teaching, directed many courses inside and outside the UK. He was also involved in many Charity Work Programs, promoting Pain Medicine Awareness. In 2014, Dr Nazal moved to the New Mowasat Hospital, Kuwait as a Clinical Director, Anesthesia and Chronic Pain, where he spend one year setting up a new Chronic Pain Service and improving anesthesia standards. He then in 2016 joined Hamad Medical Corporation.

Currently, he is the Clinical Lead of Pain Management Service and Deputy Chair of Anesthesia Department in Al Wakra Hospital, HMC, Qatar.

Dr Nazal’s passion is to promote awareness, as well as teaching Interventional Pain Management for patients, medical students, junior doctors, and other medical specialty disciplines, which will improve knowledge and proper referral, which will eventually lead to an improvement in quality of pain management for Qatar’s population.
